This Is Your Brain On Meditation: Mingyur Rinpoche Describes The Science Of Happiness
by Hugo Deslippe

I didn’t know this Rinpoche but the whole story about meditation being studied scientifically for its effect on the brain and the body is fascinating.
There are many reported cases of ascetics defying the laws of nature by not consuming food or water for very long period of times and Buddhist monks melting snow around their body in the dead of winter while meditating outside.
With certain practices, it is apparently possible to do things common people can’t do. I wonder if this is all true and if it is, what about the whole levitation thing?
For now, I am content with the studies made on the effect of meditation on the physical brain and on our mood.
This article made me want to read about the subject, I might just buy a book from Youngey Mingyur Rinpoche and report here later.
I don’t currently practice meditation but I have been know to do it for about an hour before sleep. It really felt great and I don’t know why I am not doing it now. I guess it’s the same reason I am not exercising and putting on weight…
What is your experience with meditation? Do you meditate?
